Mentoring

Formal mentoring

Not many sites that I am aware of offer any formal or stand-alone mentoring programs to enhance ones g0y experience and interpersonal development. Formal mentoring programs have structure, oversight, and clear and specific organizational goals. Menotors implement formal mentoring programs for different purposes. Some of these purposes include:

• To help new Members settle into the group
• To create a knowledge sharing environment
• To develop mission critical skills
• To help accelerate one’s path
• To improve retention

Informal mentoring is another option for memberss to enter into a mentor/protégé relationship. An informal mentoring partnership has less structure and can occur at any time in one’s life. The relationship is usually initiated by the mentor or protégé. Here are some of the following ways an informal mentoring relationship can be initiated:

• A senior level member seeing something in a younger or less knowledgeable and taking a younger member under his wing and providing them advice and guidance to assist them with their current g0y or life goals;
• A g0ysRus member seeking out a senior level member they admire and together they work to develop a relationship; or
• A elder or a senior level member recommends a specific Mentor/Member to the protégé to receive mentoring.
